Delicious Pyongyang cold noodles Restaurants in Seoul – Series 1

Delicious Pyongyang cold noodles Restaurants in Seoul – Series 1

Eulmildae, considered one of the top three cold noodle shops in Seoul, is a specialty restaurant in Pyongyang cold noodles.  Its beef soup and buckwheat noodles are very delicious.  If you just visit to have lunch without reservation, you may have to wait 30 minutes. This is a cold noodle professional restaurant with a tradition of over 40 years. It is said that the soup is made with Korean beef broth and the noodles are made itself directly. The menu is really simple, and water noodle is the most popular. It is a place where you can taste the unique taste of Pyongyang cold noodles. It is unique that there are no dumplings commonly found in Pyongyang cold noodle restaurants and there is Mung Bean Pancake instead.

Uraeok: 118-1, Jugyo-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul

Uraeok originally opened in 1946 under the name "Northwest Pavilion" at its present location, but evacuated during Korean War and closed for a while, and renamed it "Uraeok" in the sense of "Coming back home" to Seoul after the evacuation. The reason, why Uraeok's Pyongyang Cold Noodles is famous, is because of its deep broth taste, which is made by using only Korean beef, and noodle of high buckwheat ingredient. The other famous Pyongyang cold noodle restaurants used usually Dongchimi broth and meat broth, but this restaurant used only beef broth. And this restaurant put the pears on the cold noodle as a garnish with serving fresh kimchi without any side dishes. In this restaurant, Bulgogi, and the hot meat and vegetable bowl are also popular.

Euljimyeonok: 177-1, Ipjeong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul

Euljimyeonok is a representative Pyeongyang cold noodle restaurant in Eulji-ro, the center of Seoul, and is considered one of the three major Pyongyang cold noodles. It is a place where the old atmosphere is intact as it is in an old building. You can taste the cold noodles of clear broth with meat broth. Juicy broth, thin and fluffy noodles, and red pepper powder adds uniqueness. In addition to Pyongyang Naengmyeon, there are several menus, of which pork is popular. If you eat cold meat and dip it with special sauce, I think it's the best.

Jinmi Pyeongyang Naengmyeon: 115-10 Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul

Jinmi Pyeongyang naengmyeon is said to be the result of 20 years of experience and efforts made at a famous Pyongyang naengmyeon restaurant. Therefore, Jinmi Pyeongyang naengmyeon is said to make naengmyeon, which is delicious enough for customers to satisfy. In addition, the goal is to maintain consistency so that customers can enjoy the same taste anytime they visit. I can feel the stubbornness of a 20 years experienced master of naengmyeon who wants to compete only with taste without any other factors. In addition to naengmyeon, visitors can also taste dishes such as dumpling, meat & vegetable bowl, and Onmyun (warm noodle), as well as regular menu items for naengmyeon restaurants such as flat meat, pork meat and bulgogi.

West-North Myeonok : 199-1, Jayang-ro, Gui-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul

The store is old and slightly small, but it boasts below-average prices and above-average flavors among major Pyongyang naengmyeon restaurants. For Pyongyang naengmyeon, there is a bit salty, but for the sake of a good taste of broth, this restaurant recommend not adding vinegar or mustard. Mandu (dumplings) is very weak salty, but you should try it because this is the traditional northern-style dumplings with strong tofu flavor and plenty of content. The most highlight is a plate of pork meat. The taste of warm meat served on a fermented shrimp sauce is excellent.
