Why is the price of this Bone China Paper Cup expensive ?

Recently, the paper cup held by C.E.O. of the Korean web community (DCInside) gathered a topic on the community site.  

This paper cup is said to cost 165,000 won in two sets. By the way, this paper cup is so popular that many people can't buy it.

It turns out that this paper cup is made by Tiffany & Co.
Tiffany & Co is a brand of diamond accessories that started in New York in 1837. 

Originally it was a silverware and fancy goods company, and the company changed its name to Tiffany & Co. since 1853 and became an American luxury brand that specializes in making and selling diamonds.




Why does Tiffany & Co sell two sets of 165,000 won paper cups in such a jewelry brand?





No matter how their products are Top Brand, I thought it would be too much expensive to sell two paper cups for as much as 165,000 won. 

Fortunately, this product was identified as a mug designed as a paper cup, not a simple paper cup.  It is a kind of 'work' which Tiffany masters sublimates practical items into art.

The official cup-shaped mug is called “Tiffany & Co. Bon China Paper Cup”.

This product has the strength of about 3 times stronger than the traditional porcelain due to the bone china method, so the weakness of the mug, which is a disadvantage of the mug, does not appear in this product.

It is also warm, like a casserole, and is resistant to heat, so you can pour hot water or wash it in a dishwasher, but it is not recommended for use in microwave ovens.

Tiffany & Co. sells not only mugs but straws for 400,000 won.


On the other hand, there are other luxury brands that are priced at very high prices.

Let's take a look. 

Louis Vuitton, which is always mentioned whenever it mentions a luxury brand, has released 190,000 won and 580,000 won frames and Prada sold a clip for 210,000 won.



  

But the 210,000 won clip might have been a decent product. 

The clothespins that Chrome Hearts launched were priced at a million won. Chanel released a boomerang and a tennis ball for 143 million won and 510,000 won, respectively.

Hermes, a masterpiece of luxury, also launched a 900,000 won stone to showcase.
